EU gas system ready for winter despite low storage

On 8 October 2026, the European Commission said the EU gas system is ready for winter, even with storage below past levels. It says flexible supplies can still meet demand. My caution for savers: with thinner reserves as a buffer, a cold snap could still push heating bills higher.
