Sky to acquire ITV broadcast platform as ITV splits in two

Sky, owned by NBCUniversal, is acquiring ITV's broadcast and digital platform, Variety reported Oct. 12. ITV Studios will remain standalone as ITV splits into two firms. The detail emerged at ITV Studios' breakfast at Mipcom, the international sales market in Cannes, where it presented 11 fresh original formats to buyers.
