Budhi Gandaki Flood Destroys Houses, Bridges in Gorkha

About a dozen houses and several suspension bridges — footbridges hung on cables — were swept away Oct. 11 when the Budhi Gandaki River flooded in central Gorkha, Nepal, according to the disaster authority. Part of a hydropower station, which makes electricity from river water, was damaged and equipment washed away. The cause is still unclear.
