NBC fires Newlyweds showrunner Gail Lerner before premiere

NBC confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter it fired Gail Lerner, showrunner — meaning the writer-producer in charge day to day — of comedy Newlyweds two weeks before its 23 Oct premiere. The exit was over "creative differences." The first six episodes were made under Lerner, who created the series with Jamie Lee Curtis, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
