Two Major Earthquakes Strike Venezuela, Killing At Least 32

Twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.5 and 7.3–7.4 struck near Morón in Carabobo state on June 24, killing at least 32 and injuring roughly 700. The first quake's shallow depth of 10 kilometers amplified ground damage. Both originated along the Southern Caribbean Plate boundary, which produced Venezuela's deadliest modern earthquake in 1967.
