Vega confirms challenge to Infantino for FIFA presidency

Former Tottenham and Switzerland centre-back Ramon Vega has confirmed he will stand against Gianni Infantino in the 2027 FIFA presidential election. He is the first declared challenger. 'I am standing because my life has prepared me to serve the game.' he said in a statement via BBC. He needs backing from five of FIFA's 211 federations to make the ballot.
