ARIA chief accuses OpenAI and Anthropic of seeking copyright exemption in Australia

ARIA chief Annabelle Herd accused OpenAI and Anthropic of "asking Government for a free ride" on copyright. She told Australia's Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence in Sydney on 6 October the firms want to train frontier AI in Australia without abiding by copyright laws, saying licensing was too costly and complex, Music Business Worldwide reported on 7 October.
