Eleven offender hostels closed amid England and Wales early releases

Eleven hostels for high-risk offenders in England and Wales closed as early releases began, the Guardian reported 7 October 2026. That is nearly one in eight of 104 approved premises housing about 2,000 people for up to 12 weeks. Space will be tight with 2,000 releases due in a month.
