IPCA launches first investigation into Police Commissioner

The Independent Police Conduct Authority is investigating complaints against Police Commissioner Richard Chambers. The IPCA and Police are running parallel inquiries into the matter. Details of the complaints remain undisclosed. This is the first time the oversight body has examined a Police Commissioner directly. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said on 29 June he retains confidence in Chambers.
