National drops under-30s KiwiSaver bond plan

National has abandoned its 2023 campaign promise to let under-30s withdraw KiwiSaver savings for rental bonds. The policy would have required changes to the KiwiSaver Act 2006 but was never introduced after the party took office in October 2023. It did not make it into coalition negotiations, leaving its fate unclear.
