National abandons plan to help young renters use KiwiSaver

National promised before the 2023 election to let people under 30 access their KiwiSaver savings (a retirement scheme) to pay rental bonds. The idea never became law. It wasn't included in coalition agreements after the party won office in October 2023, so the plan has now been dropped.
