National abandons under-30s KiwiSaver rental bond promise

National has dropped its 2023 campaign commitment to let people under 30 draw down KiwiSaver savings for rental bond payments. The policy would have required amending the KiwiSaver Act 2006 but was never legislated after the party won office in October 2023. It did not feature prominently in coalition supply agreements, leaving its prospects uncertain.
