Frankfurt Book Fair opens with publishers split over generative AI

Outgoing director Juergen Boos told the Frankfurt Book Fair opening press conference on 6 October that publishers use generative AI, software that creates text from prompts, for editing, design and marketing while opposing it over copyright. He said balancing AI use with protecting works drives the 2026 technical programme, the fair's strand on tools.
