Labour plans to restore Apprenticeship Boost in 2028 with broader eligibility

Labour leader Chris Hipkins said at the party's congress on 28 June that a re-elected government would restore the Apprenticeship Boost from 2028 for two years. The scheme pays employers $500 monthly per apprentice. Labour created it in 2020 during the pandemic to keep apprenticeships viable. Details on which trades and employers would qualify under the widened criteria are yet to be announced.
