Nicole McKee becomes ACT deputy leader as van Velden exits
ACT has named associate justice minister Nicole McKee as its new deputy leader, replacing Brooke van Velden. Van Velden announced on 28 June 2026 she will leave Parliament at the November election to move into the private sector. McKee's appointment strengthens ACT's frontbench ahead of the election cycle by keeping an active ministerial position in the leadership.
