Nicole McKee becomes ACT deputy leader as Brooke van Velden retires

ACT has named associate justice minister Nicole McKee as its new deputy leader. She replaces Brooke van Velden, who announced on 28 June 2026 she will leave Parliament at the November election to enter the private sector. McKee's appointment gives ACT a frontbench figure holding an active ministerial warrant as the party heads into the election cycle.
