U.S. government has proposed letting private-equity managers sell alternative investments — private funds beyond stocks and bonds — to everyday investors, The Wall Street Journal reported Oct. 2. That would help managers find buyers. My concern: these funds can lock up your money for years, leaving households unable to exit quickly.
