Brazil Poll: Lula Leads, But Runoff Looks Likely
Brazil faces likely runoff. A final CNT/MDA poll on Oct. 3 puts President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 80, at 43.1% and Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, 45, at 38% before the Oct. 4 first round. Neither tops 50% to win outright, pointing to an Oct. 25 runoff. Lula seeks a fourth non-consecutive term; Bolsonaro is jailed ex-president Jair Bolsonaro's eldest son.
