California Punishes Driverless Taxis That Block Police and Firefighters

California enacted Senate Bill 1246, introduced by Sen. Dave Cortese and signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. It punishes companies running driverless taxis if one of their cars blocks police or firefighters for more than 30 minutes. That half-hour delay is now the line for legal punishment for getting in the way of emergency work.
