
Urologist shortage affects hospitals across country, college says
The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons says the shortage of urologists, specialists in urinary and kidney surgery, affects Southland and other regions. Chair Dr Sharon English told RNZ's Morning Report that Tauranga and Nelson hospitals regularly use locums, or temporary cover doctors. Health New Zealand says it is committed to strengthening its urology workforce.
