Sony announces QSSR AI upscaling for base PS5

Sony has announced Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR), an AI upscaling technology for standard PlayStation 5 consoles. Sony announced it on 1 October 2026. Sony says the system is distinct from the PS5 Pro's PSSR upscaler, which remains "the gold standard", and describes QSSR as an "evolution" bringing image improvements to compatible PS5 games.
