Shopify's Canvas Lets Merchants Build Stores by Chatting With AI

Shopify launched Canvas on Oct 1, 2026. Merchants tell Sidekick, its built-in AI assistant for running stores, what they want in plain English, and it edits the live theme files — the code that controls how a shop looks. Changes appear as working code in real time. The rollout continues over the coming days.
