California Requires Human Sign-Off on AI-Related Firings

California now bars employers from using only automated systems to discipline or fire workers. Governor Gavin Newsom announced the law September 30, 2026, as part of a multi-bill worker-protection package that extends the state's existing rules for artificial intelligence.
