Conservation Bill stripped of land-sale provision after ministerial rethink

Conservation Minister Tama Potaka has removed a clause from the Conservation Amendment Bill that would have eased the process for selling conservation land. The change came after opposition, including from former PM Helen Clark, who warned it lowered protections on public conservation areas. The bill's other reforms on planning and concessions move ahead.
