Government removes conservation land-sale clause after backlash

Conservation Minister Tama Potaka announced on 25 June the removal of a clause permitting expanded sales of conservation land from the Conservation Amendment Bill. The provision drew opposition from former Prime Minister Helen Clark and others who argued it lowered the threshold for disposing of protected public land.
