Government drops plan to make it easier to sell conservation land

The government has dropped a plan to make it easier to sell off conservation land — areas protected for nature. Conservation Minister Tama Potaka said he was removing the clause after complaints, including from former PM Helen Clark. The rest of the bill's changes to how conservation areas are managed are still going ahead.
