Philips Hue Bulbs Now Run Zigbee and Matter Protocols Simultaneously

Signify and Silicon Labs have enabled select Philips Hue A19 bulbs to operate on both Zigbee and Matter over Thread at once, starting June 24, 2026. Existing Hue Bridge users can now add Matter-compatible controllers—Alexa, Apple Home, Google Assistant—without replacing bulbs or choosing between protocols. Dual-protocol support on a single chip removes a long-standing friction point in smart home switching.
