Labour names Manchester council leader as Greater Manchester mayor candidate

Labour has selected Bev Craig, leader of Manchester City Council, as its candidate for Greater Manchester mayor. Andy Burnham, who has held the role since 2017, will not seek re-election. Craig currently oversees the mayoral office's most substantive powers: investment and skills funding across the ten constituent boroughs.
