England classifies Tropic's gene-edited banana as precision-bred

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) approved a marketing notice confirming Tropic's CRISPR-edited non-browning banana, developed in Norwich, as precision-bred for England. The status covers the breeding method — precise gene editing — not food safety. It cannot be sold until the Food Standards Agency authorises it.
