Nathan Cleary out of Rugby League World Cup with ankle injury

Australia scrum-half Nathan Cleary, 28, is out of the Rugby League World Cup after a compound fracture and dislocation to his left ankle. He needed emergency surgery after Phoenix Crossland's tackle in Penrith's NRL play-off defeat by Newcastle, BBC Sport reported. Cleary, a winner in Manchester four years ago, posted: "I'll be back."
