Government signals support for Moana Pasifika move to Pacific islands

Foreign Minister Winston Peters said on 23 June that rescue efforts for Moana Pasifika continue. A Kanaloa Rugby-led group is working to finalise a deal before the franchise enters liquidation, proposing to relocate operations to Samoa, Tonga and Fiji. Peters had flagged positive news in late May. Government funding for the plan remains under discussion but not yet confirmed.
