Peters signals government backing for Moana Pasifika Pacific relocation plan
Foreign Minister Winston Peters told reporters on 23 June that efforts to rescue Moana Pasifika have not been abandoned. A Kanaloa Rugby-led consortium is racing to finalise a rescue deal before liquidation, with a proposal to move the franchise's home base to Samoa, Tonga and Fiji. Peters previously signalled "good news" was coming in late May. Government funding for the plan remains pending but unconfirmed.
