Lucasfilm has tapped Jon Watts to direct the first film in a planned trilogy continuing the Skywalker Saga, according to Deadline, which reported the attachment on 27 September 2026. Simon Kinberg is writing the trilogy, according to Deadline. Watts co-created Skeleton Crew with Christopher Ford, according to StarWars.com.
