Joseph Baratta, Blackstone's global head of private equity — the business that buys companies to improve and resell them — was preparing to leave. He took the job in 2012 after running European buyouts and led the main fund that raised $26 billion in 2019, the Wall Street Journal reported. The test now is leadership depth, not fund rules.
