UK redirects £210m to turn empty high street buildings into community hubs

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has pledged £210m to revive high streets by converting vacant shops, pubs and clubs into workspaces, cafes and community hubs. He says it puts power with locals who know their areas best. The funding reuses existing regeneration money for community-led projects. A wider high streets strategy is due later in 2026.
