Canada approves first commercial small modular reactor at Ontario plant

Canada's nuclear regulator granted Ontario Power Generation a construction licence on April 4 for the Darlington New Nuclear Project. The facility will deploy a BWRX-300—a 300-megawatt small modular reactor designed by GE-Vernova—marking the world's first grid-scale installation of the technology. The project moves from site preparation into full construction.
