Goncourt removes C'était ça ou mourir from 2026 selection

France's Académie Goncourt removed Thélyson Orélien's C'était ça ou mourir from its 15-title first selection, an early longlist later cut, for the 2026 Prix Goncourt on 25 September 2026. The Académie said the decision preserved the integrity of the prize and rewarded human talent. The novel remains published but cannot win.
