New York returns 36 looted antiquities worth over US$5 million to Syria

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in New York announced on 23 September 2026 the return of 36 antiquities to the people of Syria, the office said. The group, valued at more than US$5 million, was handed over at a ceremony in New York City, the office said. Anadolu Agency reported it includes 14 mosaics and a funerary relief from Palmyra.
