Japan seeks more Canadian energy for security

Japan wants to buy more Canadian energy to strengthen its economic security, new ambassador Masashi Nakagome told The Globe and Mail. Japan already imports Canadian coal, oil and uranium. Shipments of liquefied natural gas — natural gas cooled to liquid for transport — from LNG Canada to Asia started in June 2025.
