Germany Maps Fossil-Fuel Exit by 2045

Germany published a roadmap on September 23, 2026, pledging for the first time to transition away from fossil fuels — oil, gas and coal — by 2045, not just reach carbon neutrality, where emissions are balanced out. Berlin says it supports its 2045 climate-neutrality goal. Germany is the third major economy to do so, after France and the Netherlands.
