Choice Finds Australian Grocery Basket Up 7% in June Quarter

Australian shoppers paid 7% more for basics in the June quarter, Choice found. Its government-funded survey of 104 stores averaged an eight-item basket — milk, fruit, vegetables, rice and beef mince — at $43.62, up from $40.83 in March. That outpaced 0.6% quarterly CPI inflation, the broad cost-of-living measure. Next quarter will show if pressure lasts.
