Next Halo game moves to Activision from Halo Studios

Xbox announced on 22 September 2026 that the next Halo game is being made at Activision, not Halo Studios. Executive vice-president and chief content officer Matt Booty announced the move alongside 268 role cuts affecting Halo Studios and other first-party developers, studios owned by Xbox. Xbox has not said Halo Studios will close.
