Hattusa fragment identified as part of Kadesh Peace Treaty

Archaeologists at Hattusa in Türkiye identified a cuneiform fragment — wedge marks pressed in clay — as a copy of the Kadesh Peace Treaty between the Hittite and Egyptian empires, Daily Sabah reported on 22 September 2026. Anadolu Ajansi describes the pact as the "world's oldest known peace treaty".
