Liberal Democrats discuss 140-seat hung-parliament plan

Liberal Democrats have privately discussed winning around 140 MPs to hold the balance of power in a hung parliament, where no party wins outright. It builds on 72 MPs from just over 12% of the vote in 2024. Ed Davey and his team will keep the targeted strategy focused on Conservative-held seats.
