Liberal Democrats privately discuss 140 seats for hung-parliament leverage

Liberal Democrats have privately discussed winning around 140 MPs to hold the balance of power in a hung parliament. The ambition builds on 72 MPs won on little more than 12% of the vote in 2024. Ed Davey and his team chose to continue that targeted-seat strategy, focused on Conservative-held seats.
