Plaion redesigned NeoGeo AES+ cartridges after memory chips ran out

Plaion reengineered NeoGeo AES+ cartridges after Parallel NOR flash memory, the chip memory storing game data, became unavailable. Hardware director Ben Jones told VGC at Tokyo Game Show engineers added conversion to use available Serial NOR flash. Jones said without the workaround the project would have been dead and faced cancellation. The work caused a ten-month delay.
