Microsoft reportedly plans hundreds more Xbox layoffs and studio consolidation

Microsoft plans to lay off hundreds more Xbox staff in the week starting 22 September 2026 and consolidate several studios, according to The Information citing a source briefed on the plans. It follows July cuts that initially affected 1,600 roles. Consolidation points to mergers or moves across Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Activision and Blizzard.
