Greens propose ban on ratchet clauses in small-business leases

The Green Party proposes banning ratchet clauses — lease terms that let shop rents rise but not fall at review — for businesses with turnover under $30 million, co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick said. The change would cover new and existing leases and allow matching caps on rent rises and falls.
