U.S. Deportees Reportedly Beaten, Jailed in Equatorial Guinea

Two men deported by the U.S. to Equatorial Guinea were bound, hooded, beaten and pushed down stairs at Hotel Bamy on Sept. 11, witnesses and lawyers told the Guardian. Ahmed Soliman, 31, of Egypt and Samson Birhane, 47, of Eritrea were moved to a prison in Malabo. Detainees call it retaliation for speaking to press about conditions.
