U.S. deportees bound, beaten and jailed in Equatorial Guinea, witnesses say

Ahmed Soliman, 31, of Egypt and Samson Birhane, 47, of Eritrea, deported by the U.S. to Equatorial Guinea, were bound, hooded, beaten and pushed down stairs at Hotel Bamy on Sept. 11, witnesses and lawyers told the Guardian. Both were moved to a Malabo prison. Detainees believe it was retaliation for speaking to press about conditions.
